posted 02/25/2012 To all Girls High School Coaches and Administrators -
The season began today with some schools already playing their first 2012 CIF game.
As part of the 2012 CIF HS Season, The OC Chapter of US Lacrosse offers the OC girls high school lacrosse community opportunities to recognize and award the players. These programs are All-Americans, All-Academic and All County. The All-American and All-Academic programs are sponsored by US Lacrosse National. The All County program is coordinated by the OC Chapter and players are recognized in the OC Register.
Details for these programs will be sent out periodically during the season.
This is the first notice.
All-Americans
Pre-nomination form due by March 20 - must be submitted to make a final nomination.
The OC Chapter through US Lacrosse National is able to recognize a few players as All-Americans. Last year we were able to recognize 5 players. How many players we will be able to recognize for 2012 is determined by the number of Varsity coaches in the OC area that are current US Lacrosse members. You must be a current US Lacrosse member to nominate a player for All-American recognition. The first step in the process is to pre-nominate players for the award. The form to do this is attached and must be returned to me by March 20. Forms should be e-mailed to me. If you cannot e-mail me the form, I can make special arrangements to receive a faxed copy. Players must be pre-nominated to be officially nominated at a later date. Part of the final nomination process will be to submit statistics for the 2012 season. I have attached last years stat forms, the 2012 forms have not been finalized. I have also attached a guideline to use for these stats. The final selection for the OC All-Americans is made by a committee that I chair (as the chairperson, I do not have a vote).
Frequently asked questions:
If I pre-nominate a player, do I have to nominate them for final consideration? No, you are under no obligation to make any final nominations just because you pre-nominated a player.
I forgot to pre-nominate a player, can I nominate them for final All-American recognition? No, you must pre-nominate a player to nominate them for final All-American recognition.
I look forward to receiving your pre-nominations for All-Americans.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Thank you,
Lee Danbara
